Field Trips & Guidelines
Guidelines for Field Trips & Activity Days sponsored by West Wichita Home-school Ministries.
Field trips are designed to provide a learning and/or cultural experience for the children participating and to give them an opportunity to interact with other children outside their immediate families. To best meet these goals and to represent home-schoolers in general in a positive manner to those associated with our host destinations, the following guidelines are established:
One parent from each family is to attend the event with his/her child(ren), assisting the child(ren) as needed and seeing to his /her behavior and safetly. Students are expected to stay with their parent during the field trip. Visiting with friends should be reserved for before and after the actual activity.
It goes without saying that discipline is a necessity. All participants are to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the WWHM Code of Conduct. Additionally, all those attending are asked to abide by the rules established by the hosting destination. It is the responsibility of the parent to see that his/her child(ren) abides by these rules and conducts him/herself appropriately. Should a child not abide by the WWHM Code of Conduct or rules set by the host destination, the child’s parents will be asked by WWHM Leadership to enforce the established rules. Should a child still not abide by these rules, WWHM Leadership will ask the parent to remove the child from the field trip or activity. In such an instance, no refunds will be given.
Field Trip/Activity Registrations are essential and must be received by the registration date indicated on the Field Trip/Activity Registration Form. No registrations will be accepted after this date. No registrations will be taken by phone. Payment is due with the Field Trip/Activity Registration Form. Completed Registration Forms and fees should be returned to the Field Trip Coordinator as listed on the Registration Form. Make checks out to WWHM. No refunds will be given unless the Field Trip/Activity Day is cancelled by WWHM or the host destination.
Registration and commitment are necessary even for those field trips or activites for which there is no charge. Cancellations and no shows at the destination may result in the cancellation of the trip for all by the host destination. Minimum attendance is often required by host destinations. Therefore, it is essential that careful thought be given to our schedule before registering for a filed trip or activity. In the case when there is no charge for the event, this is simply a matter of courtesy and integrity that reflects on you, our group and on home-schoolers in general.
Punctuality is essential. Please note the arrival time on the information sheet for the event. Admittance of late arraivals will be at the disscretion of the hosting destination. No refund will be given to late arraivals who are not allowed to be admitted.
Transportation to and from the destination is the responsibility of the child’s parent. Car pooling may be arranged by individual participating families. Unless requested by the host destination, WWHM will not organize car pools.
Preschoolers are welcome if the host destination has no restrictions on their attendance. You, as the parent, are the judge as to the appropriateness of a trip of your preschooler. Please consider your preschooler’s ability to quietly endure the presentation, the walking requirements and other aspects inherent in the field trip. If the child is likely to become a distration to either the students or the presenter, please make arrangements for child care. If a host destination requests no infants, toddlers, preschoolers or strollers, we will abide by their request. Admission prices for preschoolers will be determined by the host destination and will be expected at the time the completed Registration Form is turned in to the Field Trip Coordinator.
Non - WWHM members are welcome on field trips. There is an one time $5 fee per semester per family for non members to participate in all field trips for that semester.
It is hoped that the Field Trips and Activity Days sponsored by WWHM will be a welcomed addition to your child’s education.
